Layer Upon Layer

Have you gotten your August, 2013 issue of American Patchwork & Quilting?  What a great cover!  It looks like a place where I want to spend my time sewing!

If you have received you copy, you may have noticed that I have a quilt in the magazine!  It is called Layer Upon Layer and uses the blacks and red from Royal Gardens.  It looks complicated and to quote the magazine:  "Don’t be deceived. While this throw looks complex—as if a cream diagonal grid overlays a red grid atop a black background—it is composed of Jacob’s Ladder blocks assembled using a simple stitch-and-flip technique."  I couldn't have said it better myself!

I love how the blocks form stars and chains throughout.  It also has a pieced border and I used my Fit to be Quarter 6.5 & Companion to piece it.  The magazine does not usually recommend rulers but I wanted to let you know how I did it.

We also have kits on BundlesandBoltsquiltco.com.  Check it out.  The kit includes all the fabric for the quilt top including the binding.

Hope you have a great day and don't forget June 1st is just days away and that means Blogger Girls Block of the Month!
